Flickr, Flox & fabulousness!

Hello!

Well this week we got so many amazing things in the mail! There's nothing more satisfying than opening a new parcel. It's reason alone to open a shop!

Well, we received so much great stuff I don't know where to start...

As I mentioned earlier we are working on getting some beautiful women's and bubs clothing from the talented Hayley of Flox design. We received our first samples from Hayley & we're blown away, Fantastic colours, prints & fabrics, aren't the stretch n grows the cutest?
Her dresses are just beautiful too, they have a vintage vibe & are very flattering.

We also got a whole lot of beautiful fabric from the states, don't you just love the horses?? & the silhouette print in yellow & black is fan-bloody-tastic!

Also, (phew!) My lovely friend Amber has sent us a whole lot of her beautiful handmade jewellery, here it is in our cabinet, I love the screw studs! :)

Oh! & I finally joined flickr. I'm still figuring it out, but so far its good! Just one thing- $24.95 per year!? What a rip! Imagine how much they're making. I would love to go pro but I think I'll stick to my 3 sets for now. :)

the shop

Hiya! Just thought I'd post some pics of the shop which is in desperate need of a change, it will happen- soon! I'm kinda struggling to find ideas for merchandising (that aren't too extreme or expensive) I know how important it is to change things all the time to keep them fresh but it's difficult without any rules! When I merchandised for Freedom, I cursed all the rules (there are so many!) & the themes used to drive me crazy, but it also made it so much easier.
Having limits can be a great thing.

A time for change

We are back from another weekend up north, this time for a gig & our Friends baby's first birthday, we had a great time swimming, eating & drinking & camping. (Except for the noisy roosters!)

We are excited to announce change is in the air! We have a few plans up our sleeves, more on that later. We are also super excited to announce we will be getting fab new clothes from the talented Amy from Victoria n Bird by the end of January.

We are also working on a new range of baby wear from Flox design. Beautiful intricate graphics using interesting colour palettes, not your average babywear!
Yeehaw!!

Our darling Shelby

Our beautiful, sweet, feisty, tiny, weird cat Shelby (actually Michelle- our other cat is Romy) was killed tragically on the 3rd at around 10:30 pm, the day after we got home from our trip.
We are both so extremely sad & annoyed. She was hit by a car on Cleveland street, pretty much outside the shop, we are trying to remain positive & not let this affect how we feel about living here, but it's difficult, the physicality of her death seems to be lingering everywhere.

She was a creature of habit, there were so many little things that she did that we are missing so much, every time we pulled into the driveway she would jump onto the bonnet of the car & meow hello & then try to get in the car. She played fetch too! She is the only cat I've met who loved to play ball! We never taught her, she taught us- we had a small bouncy ball that we would throw & she would race after it & bring it back in her mouth.

I had been thinking about the possibility of her being hit by a car as she was also very naughty, she would do things just because she knew she wasn't supposed to, like try to follow me to uni, I was late a lot because of her!

Lately she was trying to be the shop cat & would come up the drive way & in the front door of the shop, if we put her out the back she would just walk around again & again & gain. She especially loved it when people were in the changing room & she could perve under the curtain.

Shelby was nearly 6 years old, rescued from the SPCA in Hamilton she travelled with me from there to Auckland & then to Wellington. We both had imagined her as an old girl with our kids, I guess Romy will be doing that job on her own.

xxx Shelby, we miss you so much!

Happy New Year!

Howdy Folks! Happy new year to everyone!

Sorry for the lack of swonderful updates...
Rom (my boyfriend/ partner/ team-mate) & I went north for a bit of a break (although we don't know what from!) firstly back to our hometown of Auckland to stay with his Mum for a few days & then to Sandy bay in the Coromandel with our friends Julia & Zeb, The weather was pretty perfect , we ate heaps & swam in the sea & the river, got nice & brown- but not burnt!

I read
The Minotaur Takes A Cigarette Break by Steven Sherrill & Rom has just about finished Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, both are really really good & y'all should get your hands on a copy.

I wanted to write a really nice New Year welcome before I get to the sad news, but I don't think I can top what the wonderful folks at Meet Me at Mikes have written, so I will share it with you...
(Meet Me at Mikes Rules BTW)

May all your socks match up after washing day, may all your toilet seats be down (or up, depending on your gender!), may all your letters not have little windows in the front - just scrawly handwriting and little love-hearts, may all your dogs not bark at night, may all your children sleep from 9pm til 6am, may all nits, cooties, mozzies, worms and other yick never show their faces (do they have faces?), may all your crafting flow like a calm, magical river, may all your babies be toilet trained overnight, may you all sneak an extra hour into the day that no-one can interrupt, may you all manage to read a really good book each month, may you all climb out of bed in the morning and find an imaginary friend who's a makeup artist slash wardrobe assistant waiting to dress and pretty you up in only 12.5 seconds, may you all be happy and healthy and gay (or not gay, sup to you!). Happy happy best ever new year.
